Even though we’re looking at the final stretch of summer, things are still heating up in August. Many U.S. cities face daily temperatures in the 90s. And we know sweat can put a damper on our beauty routine! To beat the heat, try these five simple tips for melt-proofing your look and keeping it natural.

Tie conditioned hair in a chic bun. Hair takes a beating in the sun, chlorine, and salt water and loses its moisture, color, and shine. Protect against this damage by spritzing leave-in conditioner on your strands and securing it in a simple bun before heading outside. When you let your hair down, you’ll have soft beachy waves for the evening.

Bonus: Add a pinch of baking soda to your shampoo (look for natural options without sulfates or parabens) to create a homemade clarifier that de-gunks your hair of summer pollution.

Prime your skin. Heat, humidity, and water can wash away your liquid or powder foundation.  Avoid this makeup meltdown by investing in a primer that keeps everything from wearing off by the time you step outside.
