Workout Wednesday: 7 Ways to Stick to Your Workout Routine

The new year is notorious for getting back to our regular workout routine, but it’s a lot easier said than done. Today, Pilates guru (and Honest mom) Leila Cunningham is here to share her top tips for keeping to your fitness goals.

  1. Make a plan. Schedule your workout like you would any other appointment — a motivator like a date in your calendar will help reinforce your goals and keep you on track.
  2. Get prepped. Find some workout gear that makes you feel good, make a pump-up playlist, and get your head in the game. (Don’t forget the deodorant!)
  3. Use the buddy system. Working out it is a lot more fun with a friend! You’ll be able to hold each other accountable and keep each other focused as you work towards your goals.
  4. Stay hydrated. Invest in a reusable water bottle and fill it with DIY flavored water. It’s a lot easier to stay hydrated when your water tastes great.
  5. Switch it up. Mixing up your moves will help you work out different muscles and find what works best for you. It’ll also makes things a lot more interesting, so you're less likely to get bored.
  6. Find what you love. Whether you’re a star at spinning, a pilates pro, or an ultimate yogi, find your favorite and have fun!
  7. Take a break. Lack of sleep causes stress on your body so make sure to get sufficient rest. It's important to push yourself, but it's also vital to give your body a break.
